Location and time

Spring 2025
Metropolia UAS, Myyrmäki campus

Moodle workspace:
Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology (SXN25K1A, SXN25K1A_AV)

Enrollment key:

Materials

Marieb, Elaine N. (any issue). Essentials of human anatomy and physiology. Pearson, USA
Notice that any Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology book might do. The books for Practical nursing are very good, if you then deepen your knowledge with materials in Moodle and lectures into UAS level.
Materials in Moodle: Teacher´s recordings, Anatomy worksheets, Pathophysiology leaflet, 5HP exercises and other materials in Moodle.

Teaching methods

Studying with textbook, teacher´s recordings and other materials in Moodle, anatomy assignments and exercises in Moodle. Orientation. Lectures in classroom and especially studies with anatomic models are compulsory. Absence from studies with anatomy models must be compensated.

Exam schedules

There are two examinations in Moodle. Both re-takes and raises of each exam are taken in Moodle within their open-periods. See Moodle.

If you do not pass an exam (exams) you can do them next semester.

International connections

Some Latin and Greece, some organs in Finnish

Completion alternatives

Exams, compensations with same degree of same studies. Pedagogic compensations only from whole Patophysiology ( 1cr) or whole Anatomy and Physiology (4 cr).

Student workload

5 cr= 135 hrs: Orientation and classroom studies at maximum 50 hrs, at least 85 hours of self studying (we suggest that you study in small groups). Examinations in Moodle 20 mins and 40 mins.

Content scheduling

Patophysiology 1 cr
Anatomy and Physiology 4 cr

Further information

Students prepare themselves for the lectures by studying subjects beforehand (flipped learning). It is recommended to study in small groups.
It is compulsory to attend classroom studies. The absence of classroom studies with anatomy models must be made up by returning filled anatomy assignments.
Lectures will not be streamed.
Your enrollment to this course is adherent.

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

See the attachment "Framework for evaluation criteria of competence"

Assessment methods and criteria

Examinations, three of them, are taken in Moodle platform. In the platforms students can do all exams three times: the examination and possible re-takes or raises.
If student doesn´t pass some exams, student re-takes it/ them next semester.
Patophysiology exams weigh is 1/5

Anatomy anf Physiology exams weigh is 4/5
By taking the exams in Moodle the student assures his know-how to be based in independent doing and ethical working. Fraud can lead to suspension of even one year from UAS. UAS law 932/2014, 38 §. This means that any usage of artificial intelligence is strictly forbidden.
