Objective
The student is familiar with musculoskeletal accidents, disorders and states of pain in different-aged people from the perspective of physical medicine. Students are familiar with the diagnostic and therapeutic methods used in physical and rehabilitation medicine and the role of physiotherapy as part of rehabilitation. The student can describe the most common injuries, accidents, disorders and basics of examination and treatment methods in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology. The student can describe rehabilitation as part of operative treatment. The student can combine previously learned skills and select appropriate assessment and therapy methods for the purpose of supporting musculoskeletal function. The student can promote the client’s self-care and assess the results of chosen physiotherapy methods. The student can operate in multidisciplinary collaboration and together with working life partners.

The most common musculoskeletal disorders, activity and participation limitations as well as pathological processes in their background
Problems in the shoulder, neck, back, hip and lower limb area related to the field of physiatrics
Examination and treatment methods in physiatrics
Types of wounds, basics of wound care
Fractures and their treatment
Pathophysiology of joint, tendon and ligament injuries; basics of examination and treatment
The most common orthopaedic problems in the shoulder, neck, back, hip and lower limb area
Basics of tumours and their surgical treatment
Treating burns
Selection and use of appropriate physiotherapeutic assessment and therapy methods
Interaction, therapeutic exercise and manual therapy as methods of physiotherapy
Assessment and monitoring of selected physiotherapy methods and the results of physiotherapy

Qualifications
Student knows the basics of assessment and promotion of functioning in physiotherapy. Student knows the basics of body functions and structures. Student has accomplished minimum of 2 credits of clinical practice in physiotherapy.
