Objective
The student identifies the principles of primary health care and clinical laboratory activities. Understands the role of clinical laboratory activities as part of health care and social services. Has an overall picture of the laboratory activities at their work placement and the related service system. Is able to function as a member of a working community and multidisciplinary teams. Understands the importance of sampling as part of the patient's/client's care chain. Refers clients in a client-centric manner for sampling and patient examinations. Is able to collect, handle, preserve and dispatch laboratory analysis samples in accordance with instructions to a high quality standard. Is able to carry out sample tests and patient examinations performed in primary health care and to assess the reliability of the results. Is able to use laboratory data systems. Acts safely, aseptically and ergonomically. Understands the importance of medical confidentiality as part of their professional ethics and the client's/patient's privacy protection. Is able to assess their own professional development and areas for operational improvement. Develops their interaction, guidance and counselling and working community skills.
