Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology (5 cr)

Objective

The student
• is able to describe the basic structure of the cells in the human body and the functions of the cells' different parts
• is able to name the basic types of tissue in the body and knows their main locations in the body • recognises the main types of epithelia
• is familiar with the importance of regulating osmotic pressure and the mechanisms for regulating pH, and understands their importance in the functioning of the body
• is able to explain the structures and functioning of the key organ systems as well as the basics of the immunological system
• is able to describe the main features of the human nervous system as well as name and identify the main peripheral nerves that are relevant to the biomedical laboratory scientist's work
• is able to name and identify the key anatomical structures for sampling activities
• is able to define the different hormone types, name the endocrine glands and describe the effects of hormones on target cells
• understands the central etiology of diseases and changes related to diseases, and understands the general principles of the recovery process
• identifies at cellular level the physiological mechanisms of the emergence and development of diseases.

Teaching methods

The student attends the Zoom lectures, they are Flipped learning: The student looks the topics of lectures from Moodle and prepares for them beforehand by studying at least anatomy of the topics. In the studies the student uses book and materials in the Moodle: Teacher´s recordings, anatomy assignments, term lists, 5HP exercises and other materials and does own searches.

Exam schedules

Three exams in the Moodle platform. Each exam can be executed three times: the exam and two retakes or elevations.

Completion alternatives

Hyväksilukeminen, sovitaan Urapolkuohjaajan kanssa todistamalla aiemmin hankittu osaaminen. Opiskelijalla täytyy olla AMK tai yliopistotatasoinen suoritus, jossa on vastaavat sisällöt sekä vähintään sama laajuus (Patofysiologia 1 op ja AFY 4 op).
Pedagoginen ratkaisu osittaisesta hyväksilukemisesta. Prosessi aloitetaan Urapolkuohjaajan kanssa ja toteutetaan aineopettajan puolesta. Opiskelija todistaa aiemmin hankitun osaamisensa. Opiskelija voi saada vain joko koko patofysiologian tai koko AFYn hyväksiluettua, yksilöllistä raatälöintiä ei tehdä.

Student workload

5 op = opiskelijan työtä 135 tuntia.
Orientaatio (2 tuntia) ja 7 Zoom luentoa sekä 2 anatomian laboraatiokertaa (4 tuntia) Myllypuron kampuksella. = 30 tuntia lähiopeiskelua. 105 tuntia itsenäistä opsikelua Oppikirjan, Moodlen- ja luentomateriaalien avulla sekä mahdolliset omat haut.
Anatomian mallotunneille osallistuminen on pakollista, poissaolot korvataan palauttamalla täytetyt anatomian monisteet.
