Objective

The student recognizes the Sustainable Development Goals in the context of business and is able to apply SDGs to recognize business opportunities.
The student is able to develop a business model based on SDGs.

Content

- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in business
- Roles of businesses and individuals in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals
- Motivational drivers of entrepreneurs, companies and individuals when identifying sustainable business opportunities and innovating new sustainable solutions and business ideas
- Resources and networks in the business opportunity recognition process
- Business modelling processes, practices, and tools, which are applicable in recognition and development of sustainable business models

Location and time

The course will be open in Moodle from the 15th of September to the 20th of December 2024.

Materials

Learning material and recommended literature will be uploaded to the Moodle course.

Teaching methods

This course is based on three questions:
1. What are the SDGs in the context of business?
2. How do you apply the SDGs to recognise business opportunities?
3. How do you develop a business model based on the SDGs?
These questions constitute the elements of the business opportunities recognition process and the impact on the environment, people and profit, that is, environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The course is entirely online, where the students follow a set of given steps and material and complete diverse activities.

The course allows for reflection on the topic and implementation of solutions to real-life scenarios.

The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.
