Objective

On completion of the course, the student is able to obtain field-related information from various sources, as well as process and communicate it both in writing and orally. The student is able to observe copyright issues, as well as write professional reports that follow the conventions of academic writing. The student is able to assess and improve their professional language and communication skills, and also present their professional skills. In a multicultural environment, the student is able to take the specific characteristics of the communication situations into account.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

With guidance, the student obtains information from databases and other sources and communicates it to others intelligibly with the help of instructions and model texts. The student follows the principles of research ethics when instructed. The student participates in presentations and interactions and characterises their own written and oral communicative competencies. The student lists features of multicultural communication situations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Additionally, the student obtains information from various databases and other sources and combines it selectively and analytically. The student usually follows academic conventions in their writing, producing mostly fluent texts. The student’s communication in professional settings is clear and interesting. The student both gives constructive feedback and uses feedback from others to develop their communicative skills.
The student evaluates their communicative skills, and justifies the evaluation. The student sets further goals for the development of their communicative skills. In multicultural communication, the student takes the recipient and situation into account.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Additionally, the student’s professional communication is both convincing and effective. The student writes competent and polished field-related texts. The student obtains versatile information independently, compares and combines the information and introduces their own views. The student is able to suggest ways to improve their professional communicative skills. In multicultural communication, the student modifies their communication according to the recipient and the situation.
