Objective

After completing the course, the student
• can design, analyse, construct and measure basic operational amplifier circuits
• understands the limitations of the circuits due to the non-ideal behaviour of the amplifier chip
• understands the concept of frequency response and is able to measure the amplitude and phase response of amplifier circuits in the laboratory.

Content

• Amplification and dB conversions
• Input and output resistance
• Operational amplifier
• Inverting and non-inverting operational amplifier circuits
• Voltage follower and weighted summer
• Differential and instrumentation amplifier
• First order active filters
• Non-idealities of the operational amplifier circuit
• Frequency response
