Objective
The student understands the three interrelated cornerstones of the job of a manager. The student: is able to conceptualize the strategy of his/her parent organization, is able to establish a robust management structure for his/her own field of responsibility and is ready to take first steps as an interactive people leader in a diverse organizational context. The student understands the impact of digitalization on strategy, management and leadership change. He/she is able to analyze the main transformative drivers in his/her own industry.

Course contents:
- Overall framework of being a manager
- Strategy process
- Building blocks of a management structure
- Fundamentals of people leadership in a diverse organizational context.
Assignment outline: Each of the course content areas is coupled with a course assignment. Lecture materials are used as a source of tools and reference for completing the assignment tasks which are analysed in the context of the student’s own organization or any selected publically listed company.
Location and time
Online teaching sessions: 14.8, 16.8, 21.8, 23.8 and 28.8, from 5 pm to 8 pm
Degree students: enrollment open in OMA until 12.8
Open UAS students: enrollment open until 7.8
Teaching methods

5 ECTS (appx. 127 hours of work, including attending classes, doing assignments, reading, and self-work; with a big emphasis on self-work).

- Digital transformation and its elements
- Digital strategy as a tool for organizations
- Digital strategies in various organizations.
Outline of the course assignments: Students complete two assignments in the course: 1. Individually, by analyzing digital strategy of own organization (or from a well published case), and 2. in teams, by brainstorming the digital strategy elements and roadmaps to implementation in a 2-day seminar event.

Sufficient performance: has completed basic requirements to pass the course and has made an attempt to apply and articulate concepts and information both verbally and in writing but has not made enough effort overall. Assessment criteria, good (3)
Good overall performance: can apply and articulate concepts and information well both verbally and in writing, certain areas of individual or team output require further attention; shows appropriate level of interest and motivation in individual and team activities. Good presentation delivery and analysis.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Excellent performance in all elements of the course: shows interest and motivation in individual and team activities and assignments, fully applies and clearly articulates concepts and information both verbally and in writing. The student is able to support his/her argument with references to the recommended reading and lecture content. Excellent presentation delivery and analysis.
