Objective
On completion of the course the student will be able to apply the methods of investment calculation in the financial administration of an apartment house and real estate company. The student will have an overall understanding of the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection in construction. The student can perform life cycle analysis (LCA) and life cycle cost calculations. The student will understand how the life cycle costs are formed, and will be able to calculate them.
Content
Target of sustainable development in real estate sector. Target setting for LCA and LCC calculations. Inventory and impact analyses and interpretation of results. Environmental product declarations (EPD). Environmental classification systems for buildings. Tools for LCA, carbon footprint and LCC calculations and their sensitivity analysis.

The duration of the course is 10 weeks.
On learning module per week.
The first learning module opens on week 2.9.2024.
The last learning module closes on 10.11.2024.

Materials
The learning material is partly prepared by the teacher, mostly in the form of videos and guided exercises, and partly the students themselves have to search for it on the web and/or in the library. Where appropriate, external materials are recommended for the tasks.
Teaching methods
The course is organized in weekly learning modules. Each modules contains materials prepared by the teaches and home assignments. Interaction between students and with the teacher will be made through forums. The regualar exchange of feedback between students is a key part of this course.
Exam schedules
This course assessment is based on weekly assignments. No exams.
Content scheduling
The course is divided into 2 parts and 10 weekly modules.
Part one is 6 modules (3 OP) and covers the topics of sustainability in the construction sector.
Part two is made of 4 modules (2 OP) and covers the topics of Life Cycle Costing.
