Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology (5 cr)

Objective

The student
• is able to describe the basic structure of the cells in the human body and the functions of the cells' different parts
• is able to name the basic types of tissue in the body and knows their main locations in the body • recognises the main types of epithelia
• is familiar with the importance of regulating osmotic pressure and the mechanisms for regulating pH, and understands their importance in the functioning of the body
• is able to explain the structures and functioning of the key organ systems as well as the basics of the immunological system
• is able to describe the main features of the human nervous system as well as name and identify the main peripheral nerves that are relevant to the biomedical laboratory scientist's work
• is able to name and identify the key anatomical structures for sampling activities
• is able to define the different hormone types, name the endocrine glands and describe the effects of hormones on target cells
• understands the central etiology of diseases and changes related to diseases, and understands the general principles of the recovery process
• identifies at cellular level the physiological mechanisms of the emergence and development of diseases.

Teaching methods

Opiskelija osallistuu opetukseen, joka on osittain käänteistä: Opiskelija katsoo Moodlen sivulta luentojen sisällöt ja valmistautuu niihin etukäteen opisjkelemalla vähintään eskeiset rakenteet- anatomia- etukäteen. Opiskelija osallistuu luentoihin ja käyttää opiskelussaan oppikirjaa ja Moodlen materiaaleja: Opettajan tallenteet, anatomian monisteet, termilistat, harjoitustehtävät ja muu materiaali sekä tekee halutessaan omia hakujaan.

Exam schedules

Kolme tenttiä Moodlessa. Katso ajat Moodlesta. Kukin tentti on auki noin 2 vko, jonka sisällä opiskelija voi suorittaa sen 3 kertaa: tentti sekä 2 mahdollista uusinta/ korortuskertaa.

International connections

Sanastossa on jonkin verran latinaa ja kreikkaa, jotkut Youtube videot ovat englanniksi.

Completion alternatives

Hyväksilukeminen, sovitaan Urapolkuohjaajan kanssa todistamalla aiemmin hankittu osaaminen. Opiskelijalla täytyy olla AMK tai yliopistotatasoinen suoritus, jossa on vastaavat sisällöt sekä vähintään sama laajuus (Patofysiologia 1 op ja AFY 4 op).
Pedagoginen ratkaisu osittaisesta hyväksilukemisesta. Prosessi aloitetaan Urapolkuohjaajan kanssa ja toteutetaan aineopettajan puolesta. Opiskjelija todistaa aiemmin hankitun osaamisensa. Opiskelija voi saada vain joko koko patofysiologian tai koko AFYn hyväksiluettua, yksilöllistä raatälöintiä ei tehdä.

Student workload

5 op = opiskelijan työtä 135 tuntia.
Orientaatio (2 tuntia) ja 10 lähiluentoa sekä 2 anatomian laboraatiokertaa (4 tuntia) Myllypuron kampuksella. = 50 tuntia lähiopeiskelua. .85 tuntia itsenäistä opsikelua Oppikirjan, Moodlen- ja luentomateriaalien avulla sekä mahdolliset omat haut.
