Objective
The student
• understands the differences of e-commerce and traditional order-delivery processes in retail and B2B deliveries in industry
• recognises the main distribution channels and warehousing models and is able to analyse benefits and sustainability of different delivery options and transportation modes
• understands how distribution, warehousing and packaging related technology and automation is applied in various industries and in retail
• is able to perform order-delivery process by using an ERP system and understands how transport and location planning systems are utilised for more sustainable and efficient distribution.

• Order-delivery processes in retail and industry
• E-commerce order-delivery process
• Channels of distribution, omni- and multichannel logistics
• Main activities and safety in distribution/logistics centres, warehouses and terminals
• Packaging and labelling activities and innovations
• Information systems and technologies of distribution
• Sales and distribution process in an ERP system
• Location and transport route planning systems
• Third-party logistics and value-added logistics services
• Environmental issues related to distribution
Location and time
The classes are held mostly at the campus. Some lectures / assignments might be held online. The course can not be completed fully online. In some classes obligatory attendance at Myyrmäki campus.

The handbook of logistics and distribution management : understanding the supply chain
Rushton, Alan, Croucher, Phil, Baker, Peter, 2022 (or previous editions)
Other literature will be announced in the beginning of the course.
