Objective
Upon completion of the course, the student - knows the functions and key concepts of urban engineering - is able to interpret and evaluate the plans of urban engineering - is able to understand the common domains of land surveying and urban engineering and the roles of different parties in them
Content
Students become familiar with various aspects of community technology and gain an overall understanding of the tasks of community technology. Areas and Concepts of Civil Engineering. Processes of community engineering projects and various actors. Fundamentals of Urban Engineering Essential to Environmental Planning. Transport routes, municipal engineering systems, environmental protection, constructability and foundation construction systems, as well as their methods and techniques.
Location and time
Myllypuro Campus.
According the time-table.
Materials
Lecture material, which is stored in a OMA.
Will be given with first lectures.
Teaching methods
Interactive lecture, exercises and group work.
Exam
Excursion (if any): We will visit a community engineering site.
Exam schedules
Will be given with first lectures. Shown in course schedule.
Exams will be held at the end of the course, and the more accurate the date indicated on OMA.
Completion alternatives
No
Student workload
Obtaining a mark of the course requires 80% participation in classroom instruction and guidance, etc.
Student´s workload is 27 h / ects, which includes contact teaching and independent work of the student.
Studies and the working load of the rehearsals are sized as per the all-time studies.
Obtaining a mark of the course requires that all course assignments are done satisfactorily.
All course assignments must be submitted before the end of the course. If they are late, they will receive a grade reduction.
Further information
This course is implemented at school as contact teaching and small group work, which is presented in class. Small group work is also assessed.
The student's assessment is based on his/her performance during the course. In addition to exams, these include class activity, attendance and small group work with presentations. Attendance should be at least 80%.
The average grade for the exam and small group work is not directly the course grade, but the above-mentioned factors that lower the grade are taken into account.
If necessary, refer to Metropolia's Student and Student Register Privacy Statement (available at OMA: Privacy Statement: Metropolia Student and Study Data Register) on the processing of personal data related to distance learning and the systems, software, IT applications and electronic tools used in the processing of personal data.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Student is able to manage the central areas of actions of minicipal engineering.
Assessment methods and criteria
Satisfactory (1-2);
The student can understand and civil engineering significance of the built environment.
Good (3-4)
The student understands and knows well the importance of civil engineering in the built environment.
Excellent (5)
The student understands and can very well the importance of civil engineering in the built environment.
Evaluation of the content and presentation of small group work, which examines how well the student has become familiar with the given topic area in their group.
Assignment evaluation, which examines how well a student has understood content of the data exchange of lectures and understand the measurement technology and infrastructure solutions common work areas. Notable are the main elements of a sustainable attention to the measurement technology and infrastructure in the common work areas, familiarity with the technology community in different areas, observe the municipal engineering domains and concepts, as well as urban development projects, processes
and the various actors.
Please environment for the design of the main municipal engineering, roads, municipal engineering systems, protection of the environment, constructability and foundation engineering.
