CAD1 - Introduction to Computer Aided Design (3 cr)

Objective

After completing the course, you will be able to design a product taking into account its manufacture and material. You will also be able to create 3D models and assemblies using technical documents. You will learn how to make 3D models that can be used for analysis, simulation and various manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing and as a basis for CAM tooling.

Teaching methods

Opinnot suoritetaan kokonaisuudessaan verkossa Metropolian Moodle-oppimisympäristössä sekä tarvittaessa Zoom- tai Teams-alustojen kautta. Opinnot koostuvat opetusvideoista, kirjallisesta materiaalista ja harjoitustehtävistä. Voit suorittaa opintoja itsenäisesti omaan tahtiin opintojen aikataulun puitteissa. Opintojen aikana järjestetään opettajan pitämiä tukityöpajoja 2-3 viikon välein, poislukien loma-ajat.

You can effectively create sketches and make 3D models based on them. You understand the properties and purpose of different features.

You can create complex sketches efficiently and can make full use of the features offered by software. You will be able to create basic 3D models efficiently and make fluent use of software features. You will be able to make 3D models visually expressive.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
