Objective

After completing the course the student will be able to:
- Carry out basic user interface design and user interface evaluation
- Provide an overall view of the application of the user interface and its problem areas
- Utilize the various stages of the user-centered user interface design process and outline their connection to the product development process.
- Design interactive user interfaces based on the needs of the user and utilise user-centered design methods at different stages of the user interface design process
- Be attuned to problem situations of different users

Content

- Basic concepts and working methods of user-centered design and their utilisation in user interface design
- Common methods of user interface design and user interface evaluation.
- User interface design and modeling

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with the stages of the user interface development process and the role of the industrial designer in the development process. The student is able to approach and solve problems of user interface development as a designer. The student is able to produce presentation material and document their plans.

The student is familiar with the stages of the user interface development process and the role of the industrial designer in the development. The student is able to approach and solve problems of user interface development as a designer. The student utilizes and develops their problem solving and communication skills as well as their technical skills in the development process and decision-making. The student is able to produce high quality presentation material. The student has good skills in the documentation and presentation of their development work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is familiar with the stages of the user interface development process and the role of the industrial designer in service development. The student is able to approach and solve problems of user interface development as a designer. The student makes extensive use of and effectively develops their problem solving, communication and technical skills in the development process and decision making. The student is able to justify their decisions. The student has a good command of the user interface concept design. The student is able to produce high quality presentation materials. The student has excellent skills in the documentation and presentation of their development work.
