Work Placement in Occupational Therapy 4 (10 cr)

Objective

Learning outcomes
The students become acquainted with the work practices, instructions and legislation governing client work. At the work placement the students apply a client-centered approach, act professionally and in accordance with the ethical principles of occupational therapy. The students practice to form therapeutic relationships and reflect on the ongoing therapeutic relationship. The students collaborate with other professionals and, if possible, with the client's close persons and relatives. The students also use information from other disciplines to form an overall picture of the client's situation. The students use guidance to support the development of competence.

The students plan the client processes of occupational therapy (individual, group and community) and consider the benefits. The students apply theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practice in the client processes of occupational therapy. The students evaluate the effectiveness of the client processes of occupational therapy. The students make recommendations and instructions in order to enable the occupational performance of the client. The students give advice and guidance to prevent functional problems. The students evaluate the need for further rehabilitation and opportunities and give recommendations as needed. The students consider the use of digital rehabilitation services when enabling the clients´ occupational performance. The students analyse the collected information in order to identify purposeful performance areas and to enable meaningful activity. The students set goals with the client and plan therapeutic activities and occupations in accordance with the goals to enable the client´s occupational performance. The students justify the client process using professional reasoning and evidence-based practice. The students analyse the information collected in relation to the multidisciplinary data. The students give the information about the client process orally and in writing. The students actively cooperate to develop occupational therapy practices based on theoretical knowledge and evidence-based practice.

Location and time

Harjoittelun suunniteltu ajoitus on 18.3.- 6.5.2024 .

Opiskelija voi poiketa annatusta +- 5 päivää mikäli se on harjoittelupaikan kannalta perusteltu ja sovittu. Suuremmasta poikkeamasta ajoitukseen yhteys harjoittelun vastuuopettajaan .

Mikäli opiskelija suunnittelee harjoittelujakson poikkeavalla aikataululla opiskelija sitoutuu selvittämään mitä päällekkäisyyksiä mahdollisesti aiheutuu muihin opintoihin nähden. Opiskelija sitoutuu sovittuihin harjoittelupäiviin . Samanaikaisesti mahdollisesti muihin opintoihin liittyvät opintopäivät opiskelija sopii jo etukäteen korvattavaksi esim harjoittelupäiviä lisäämällä.

Opiskelija ilmoittaa harjoittelupaikasta ja ajasta wikisivuilla olevan harjoittelupaikkalomakkeen kautta. Lomakkeen kautta vastuuopettajalle kertyneen tiedon perusteella vahvistetaan jobiilivaraukset, tarkistetaan sopimukset Metropolian kanssa sekä vahvistetaan ohjaava opettaja.

Materials

Opiskelija hakee ja opiskelee harjoittelupaikan teemojen ja asiakkaiden toimintaterapiaprosessin edistämisen kannalta ajankohtaista kirjallisuutta sekä haastaa itsensä hyödyntämään ja kertaamaan tutkinto-opintojen aikana jo oppimaansa .

Teaching methods

Opiskelija huolehtii harjoittelupaikan hakemisesta sekä paikan ilmoittamisesta wikisivun lomakkeen kautta.
Opiskelija sitoutuu harjoittelupaikassa oppimiseen vahvistamalla myös omia työelämätaitojaan harjoittelupaikan toimijoiden kanssa.
Opiskelija huolehtii annetuista oppimistehtävistä harjoittelujakson aikana.

Opiskelija tekee ennakkotehtävän, oppimistehtävän sekä nimeää oppimiselleen tavoitteet ja arvioi omaa oppimistaan.

Opiskelija hakee harjoittelupaikan tuutorin kanssa sovitussa suunnassa ja ilmoittaa sopimansa harjoittelupaikan tiedot viipymättä wikisivuilta löytyvällä harjoittelupaikkalomakkeella.

International connections

kansainvälinen vaihto on mahdollinen 4ssä harjoittelussa lukukausittain . Opiskelija suunnittelee kv-vaihdon Metropoliassa ohjeistetulla tavalla.

Completion alternatives

ajoitukseen voi tehdä poikkeamia harjoittelupaikan saatavuuteen liittyen sekä harjoittelupaikassa oppimisen mahdollistamiseksi. viikkoa suuremmasta poikkeamasta yhteys harjoittelun vastuuopettajaan. Poikkeavan ajoituksen osalta opiskelija selvittää mahdollisten muiden päällekkäisten opintojaksojen aikataulut ja huolehtii korvaamisesta harjoittelussa.

Student workload

10 op = 33 työpäivää ,
270 tuntia , tästä jää 6t ennakkotehtävälle työpäivien jälkeen.
Työpäivien (8t) osalta opiskelija suunnittelee ajankäyttönsä harjoittelupaikkaan ja siellä oppimiseen soveltuvalla tavalla yhteistoiminnassa harjoittelun ohjaajien kanssa. Opiskelija huomioi tässä, että harjoitteluaikaan kuuluu opettajan tapaamiset ja pienryhmät sekä harjoitteluun kuuluvien oppimistehtävien tekeminen.

Opettajan ohjaukseen liittyvät tapaamiset ja pienryhmät ohjeistetaan opettajakohtaisesti ennen harjoittelujakson alkua.

Qualifications

Before attending the course, the students must have at completed minimum of 85 ECTS including the competence from the following courses: Work Placement in Occupational Therapy 2, Enabling Occupational Therapy 4, Enabling Occupational Performance in Groups

Further information:
The degree in occupational therapy includes four work placements 10 ECTS each. Every work placement must differ from each other referring to the (WFOT minimum standards). The students acquire the work placement themselves and confirm the placement with the lecturer in charge. In the fourth work placement the students will consider whether they need an occupational therapist as a clinical supervisor to develop their competence.
