Objective
The student understands and appreciates the historical development of management thought from both the Classical and Human Relations perspectives. The student is able to draw on a basic knowledge of the fundamental management concepts and appreciate the relevance of the building blocks of management knowledge in the modern business world. The student understands how the impact of personnel, leadership and management practices effects the ultimate success of a business enterprise operating in today's highly dynamic and competitive business environment. The student starts to develop personal interaction skills in order to compete more effectively in the workplace of the future. The student is able to identify the possible opportunities and challenges within the workplace of the future.
Content
- The historical evolution of management thought.
- The relevance of the past with today's management practices.
- Management and Leadership models at work in today's companies. With a particular reference to the role of Human Resource Management in relation to Teamwork, Leadership and Organisational Culture.
- Examining Megatrends and looking at their possible effects on the future of work and work place organisations.
- Establishing ethical behaviours especially relating to the environmental and organisational context.
- Developing personal interaction skills in order to compete in the workplace of the future.

The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.

The student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. The student is able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply his/her knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of business and is able to analyze his/her own expertise.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. The student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student is able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures. The student is well prepared to apply his/her knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student is able to analyze the business sector expertise and the development of his/her own expertise.
