Objective
The student is able to describe the formation of tension and deformation in structures under various load cases and to evaluate the functionality of materials and simple structures in straightforward load situations. The student is able to explain how the key properties of materials depend on their micro- and macro-structure and how the structure of materials can be influenced. The student is able to describe the effects of the main alloying elements of steels on the phase structure and properties of steels. The student is able to utilize research and testing methods for materials.

2. Effect of structure on load
3. Micro- and macro-structures of materials
4. Phase transformation and plastic deformation of metals
5. Materials strengthening mechanisms
6. Composition of alloys
7. Heat treatment methods for metals
8. Coal and silicon materials
9. Materials research and testing methods
Evaluation scale
0-5
