Objective

The student knows the most common types of materials. He / she is able to present the characteristics of the material types and deduce the group of materials most commonly used. The student is able to explain how combining materials makes functional products. He / she is able to evaluate the suitability of materials for different uses and reuse. The student knows the key properties of fluids.

2. The most commonly used materials
3. Material solutions (eg case can)
4. Reuse and recycling of materials
5. Packaging materials
6. Heat capacity and phase change temperatures
7. Thermal and electrical conductivity
8. Liquids: viscosity, surface tension, refractive index
9. Adsorption

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student is able to define and describe the concepts and phenomena included in the course in a qualitative way and to compute straightforward problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student is able to understand and define or describe the concepts and phenomena discussed in the course in his own words; he also knows how to explain the origin and meaning of related equations and to critically evaluate the solutions obtained when solving related problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student is able to characterize and model phenomena discussed in the course on the basis of reasonable assumptions, as well as to analyze, evaluate and modify solutions for related problems and the underlying model when needed.
