- can identify current and future development needs of welfare and health promotion
- can adopt a multi-actor approach to the implementation of public, private, the third sector and population-level activities
- can apply development, innovation and research competence in public health nursing to meet the needs of society and the workplace showing innovation and taking initiative as public health nurses
- know how to utilize future-oriented methods to promote health and wellbeing and deepen their competence in health promotion
- are able to evaluate their competence and develop it further

The student may choose professional studies of public health nursing after successfully completing the theoretical requirements of professional nursing studies as well as all the clinical practices in medical and surgical operating environments, unless otherwise agreed in the student's PSP.
