Objective
The students are able to communicate orally and in writing in Finnish in the work environments related to their professional fields as members of multidisciplinary work communities. In their communication, they take into account the differences between the register of language as well as the formal and informal language use. They are able to acquire information related to their field of work from different sources and are able to convey information in writing and orally using technology and digitalisation opportunities. The students know the level of their language and communication skills and develop their language skills independently.

- Key professional oral and written communication situations, individual and group communications
- Key professional vocabulary
- Texts related to the professional field, reporting and writing up a text
- Register of language use (formal vs. informal language)
- Self assessment of language and communication skills and developing learning strategies

Qualifications
Level B1 in the The Common European Framework of Reference (CERF) for language use.
Further information
The oral and written language proficiency are evaluated separately. The students, whose school education language is Swedish, will take the course Finnish as a Second Domestic Language. They will receive the following language clause into their diploma:
The student has acquired such oral and written language proficiency that corresponds to the language skills required of state officials functioning in a position according to the Act 693/2016, 6 § with a grade for written proficiency of (good/ satisfactory) and the oral proficiency on the scale of good/satisfactory applied in bilingual public administration.
The students, who have been exempted from Swedish, will take the course Finnish as a Second Domestic Language. They will not have the above mentioned clause in the diploma and the course will be evaluated with the grades 0-5.
