Objective

Embryology:
Students are able to describe the main processes of embryology until the end of the organogenesis stage. They are able to explain the principles and processes of the human body.

Physical development of the child:
Based on the knowledge of physiological development, student are able to see functional
connections and their effect on the body. Students are able to apply this knowledge in their treatment practice.

Obstetrics and gynaecology:
Students know abnormalities and functional disorders in the structure and function of the pelvic area. Students identify and define the most common disorders and treatment practices of menstrual cycle, gynaecology, pregnancy, childbirth and menopause. Based on their gynaecological knowledge, students identify functional connections and are able to apply this knowledge to their treatment practice independently. Student recognise functional connections based on gynecological knowledge and are able to apply this knowledge to their own treatment practice independently. Student recognise pregnancy and the changes caused by childbirth and their effects on the body.

Gerontology and geriatrics:
Students know the changes of human aging in the body, identify the major illnesses and are able to describe their prevention and treatment options.

Developmental psychology:
After the course, students understand human development as a holistic individual process, and by subdivisions, identifies the different stages of life of a person, developmental tasks and
possible developmental crises. They are able to assess the importance of crises or abnormal development in the holistic situation of the person through various psychological human images.

Content

Embryology:
Fertilization, blastocyst formation, gastrulation, formation embryonic disk, neurulation and organogenesis. The importance of intercellular interaction as a guide of development. Segmentation of the spine and peripheral nervous system. Main features of the formation of skeleton structure, musculature, connective tissue membranes (fasciae) and body cavities. Fetal development.

Physical development of the child:
Developmental phases, functional connections and disorders of the child.

Obstetrics and gynaecology:
Abnormalities in the structure and function of the pelvic region, functional disorders and their effect on the body. Physiological aspects of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as disorders of the process and complications. General gynaecological conditions, examinations and surgeries. Female hormonal life cycle. Pregnancy and related health challenges (Hepatosis. Asthma. Cardiac disease. Rheuma. Epilepsy. Toxemia. Diabetes). Childbirth, pain relief and operative obstetrics. Hemorrhages and traumas during childbirth and in the postpartum period.

Gerontology and geriatrics:
Gerontology and geriatrics as disciplines. Theories of ageing. Aging changes in various organ systems. Major diseases of old age, and their treatment.

Developmental psychology:
Holistic view of human development and function, developmental task theories. Different aspects of psychological development: emotional, cognitive, psychosocial, psychomotor etc. Basics about temperament, attachment relationship, and developmental crises.
