Objective
The students are able to identify the contributory factors to human wellbeing throughout the lifespan. They understand the importance of inclusion and a sense of community to human wellbeing. They understand exclusion as a societal phenomenon when working with communities and individuals of different ages, health conditions, functional abilities and life situations. The students can distinguish between the discriminatory structures and processes that cause exclusion in a society and identify ways to prevent it.
Content
Contributory factors to well-being and social integration. Poverty and marginalization in relation to exclusion. Disability and the related special needs. Social risks at various stages of life and discrimination in relation to e.g. age, low income, and disability. Protective factors and coping mechanisms of individuals. Socio-pedagogical means for supporting participation and preventing exclusion.
