Objective

The student
• knows the names, properties, production and finishing methods, maintenance and washing instructions of textile materials
• is able to evaluate the environmental impact of the textile materials used and to make appropriate choices at the design stage
• is able to perform fibre material analyses in the laboratory and is familiar with the requirements of textile tests.

Content

• Names and properties of natural and synthetic fibers
• Textile fibre production and ecology
• Textile innovation and the circular economy
• Basics of textile chemistry
• Methods for identifying the most common fibres and for testing textiles
