Objective

Student understands how media platforms and services works and is able to build new services based on the web technologies. Student will gain understanding on how different media content (images, multimedia, sounds, text) is managed (storage, metadata, retrieval), published (applications, web, TV, mobile) and applied for different cases (business models, user profiling, advertisement). Student will get an overview of production and publishing processes of the media and understand the role of content management systems in the process.

Content

-Software architectures for media applications and platforms
-Implementations of applications, Model-view-control abstractions (MVC)
-Storage and delivery of digital content, delivery protocols
-Media production and publishing processes
-Metadata model, information retrieval and user profiling in digital publishing

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

-student understand the basics of media publishing process
-student understands the core concepts of media platforms and web
-student is not capable for modelling new media platform solutions

-student is able to apply the skills teached in the course material
-student is able to specify and build new media solutions

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

-student has shown exceptional skills and interest in the theory and applications of media platforms and web technologies

Qualifications

-Web development basics course or basic information of web teknology (Javascript, HTML, CSS)
-Basic knowledge of programming
