Biochemistry and Basics of Medicine (5 cr)

Objective

Learning outcomes
As a student you are able to describe the key metabolic reactions and explain the biochemical mechanisms behind diseases. You can describe the structure of biomolecules and explain the key steps of the amino acid, carbohydrate and lipid metabolism and their significance in the cellular energy metabolism. You understand the functioning of enzymes and are able to describe the factors influencing it. You recognise the structure of hemoglobin and can explain how it is regulated. You understand the importance of iron for the human body and are able to explain the general characteristics of the iron metabolism. You are able to explain hormone functioning and the basic mechanisms of intracellular signalling pathways. You are able to describe the pathogenesis and symptoms of key internal diseases and the laboratory tests used in their diagnostics. You are able to describe the key laboratory tests used in the treatment of a surgical patient and in the monitoring of the treatment.

EXAM TENTTI:

Opiskelija varaa itselleen tenttiajan tenttiakvaariotilaan Myllypuron kampus, tenttiakvaario B6024 tai Myyrmäen kampus, tila B245, jossa hän tekee tentin tenttitilan tietokoneella.
Ajan voi varata XXXXXX jälkeen.
Tenttiakvaarioissa on tallentava kameravalvonta.
Tenttiakvaariot ovat auki opiskelijoille ma-pe 8–20.

• Ilmoittaudu tenttiin EXAM-järjestelmässä ja varaa tenttiaika. Jos et pääsekään tenttiin, muista perua varaus tai muuta varauksesi aikaa.
• Tule kampukselle noin 15 minuuttia ennen tentin alkua. Käy kampuksen aulapalveluissa, josta saat kulkuoikeuden tenttitilaan näyttämällä tenttivarauksesi tiedot ja henkilöllisyytesi.
• Tenttitilaan ei saa viedä mitään omia tavaroita (ulkovaatteet, kännykkä, laukku tms.). Ainoastaan opiskelijakortti/henkilöllisyystodistus, tilan kulkukortti ja lokerikon avainkortti saavat olla mukana. Tenttitilan ulkopuolella on lokerikko, johon voit jättää tavarasi tentin ajaksi. Lokero lukitaan etäluettavalla kortilla (esim. matkakortti, etukortit ja pankkikortit).
