Objective

Learning outcomes
As a student you are able to describe the provision of laboratory services in the health care and social services sector as a whole and the laboratory testing process in clinical physiology, neurophysiology, nuclear medicine, clinical microbiology, pathology and molecular genetics. You can explain the significance of tests relating to the treatment of patients. You guide patients and clients competently. You are able to plan and perform the collection, handling, preservation and transportation of samples to a high quality standard. You are able to analyse samples and carry out patient examinations in compliance with quality requirements and recommendations, and you understand the principles of methods and devices used in laboratory activities. You carry out internal quality control and external quality assessment, and act in accordance with their requirements. You adhere to the principles of occupational health and safety and patient safety. You know how to work aseptically and ergonomically. You identify areas in need of development in clinical laboratory activities. You assess your own professional development. You work in various working and learning environments and in multidisciplinary teams with a development-oriented approach.
