Objective

On completion of the course, the student
• can responsibly develop innovative practical and concrete solutions, practices, products or services with multidisciplinary partners to meet the diverse future needs and current challenges in the metropolitan area
• is able to define the concept of innovation and take development methods into use
• is able to apply project and network-based work, creativity and competence in regional, national or international development work
• uses their personal skills and abilities to work in multidisciplinary collaboration and working environment
• creates a culture of cooperation and negotiation for successful teamwork
• uses their skills in problem solving, collaboration, technical and communication skills to support the collaborative development processes and joint decision making of the team.

Content

• The concept of innovation, development work management and building a development team
• Collaborative project and innovation work and assessment: brainstorming, future-oriented conceptualisation and design, customer and user understanding, contracts and copyrights, communicating, publishing, productisation, marketing and implementation planning
• Multidisciplinary teamwork, stakeholder activities and networking
• Innovation development tools and methods

Teaching methods

Interactive lectures in evening time with remote connection.
Studies requires active participation throughout the course AJOITUS!

Some of the project challenges are controlled completely online and participation in them requires the use of a camera in Team or Zoom.

Content scheduling

Duration 12 weeks, 26.9.- 13.10-23. Study days are from Tuesday to Thursday 17pm-21pm.

The orientational reflection task is returned to the project-specific OMA workspace (the workspace indicated by the instructor), October 1st, 2023.

Orientation and theory: September 26, 17pm-18pm.
AIKA Project work on Tuesdays-Thursdays 17-21.00
Meeting with the customer on first week.
MINNOFest. End of projects: December 13, 17-21.00.
AIKA Feedback with supervisor
Other days project work in your on project group
Weekly meeting with project lecturer will be agreed during project.

Further information

INTENSIVE STUDY COURSE; Attendance is required throughout the course
Duration 12 weeks
Registration for project is done with an e-form. Failure to register for the project may prevent access to the course.
Available project will be published in OMA later.
Students will be informed of their placement in project groups before the first project meeting.
First project meeting: The exact place and time are indicated in the project blank form
Presentation of project output in MinnoFest.
Project closing and feedback discussion: a more detailed time will be announced at the beginning of the project.

A good grade of an innovation project may enable the project to be continued as a thesis in a project on the same topic according to a separate agreement.

RPL: The application must be made and approved before registering for the course.

MATERIALS prepared by the teacher are works in accordance with the Copyright Act (404/61) for which the teacher has copyright. Assignments AND MATERIALS may not be used except in their own studies. Their public distribution is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

Assessment is focused on the work carried out during the course, the gained competence and knowledge upon the completion of the course, the outcomes of the project and meeting the project goals and creating innovative concrete and implementable solutions.
