Objective
The students will learn the theoretical fundamentals of counselling. The students will be able to apply the principles of dialogue to counselling.They can plan, implement, and assess counselling work in a goal oriented way listening to the client. The students will be able to offer guidance taking into account individual needs in both individual and group counselling.
Content
Basics of individual, group, and community counselling. Ethical issues in counselling.
Principles of dialogical interaction. Different approaches to counselling.
Different roles in counselling work. Goal-oriented counselling, planning and evaluation in the social context.
Feedback as a part of the counselling work. Reflecting one’s own counselling.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING GRADING (Rauhala)
*Presence in contact teaching 100% (missed classes require replacement task) 60%
*Final Learning Diary: A Learning Diary focusing on the student´s own reflections about communication, counselling and guidance, dialogue, its practices and its possibilities in different contexts of social pedagogical work. 40%
*Other learning assignments: pass/fail
GROUP COUNCELLING GRADING (Piekkari)
Presence in contact teaching 100% (missed classes require replacement task) 50 %
Group facilitation exercise: Group self evaluation & Peer evaluation. Criteria given during the classes. 50%
