Objective
The student understands the value of high-quality photos in object documentation and is able to use digital system camera to produce proper photos. The student understands the operating principle of digital camera and is able to choose correct camera adjustments according to the environment. The student is able to use manual and light exposure adjustments. In order to use his/her photos for documentation, reports, printed and digital publications the student knows how to use image processing programs and do needed color and tone corrections. The student knows the basics of video-shooting and how to use videos for conservation documentation and understands the use of photogrammetry for the documentation of cultural heritage.
The student will be able to act appropriately in both studying and working life communication situations. The student knows the good practice of written and oral communication and is able to apply and respect them accordingly. The student is able to produce conservation and cultural heritage documentation and an oral /written representation of his/her own special field of conservation. The student is able to produce different types of written material for different media and communicate as a specialist in different situation and environments to wider audiences. The student is able to acquire information, analyze and use information in relevant manner. The student is able to use his/her language and communication skills for continuing development of his/her professional thinking and expertise.

Photography and use of digital system camera for object documentation
Camera and light exposure, color and tone adjustments.
Basics of videoshooting
Photogrammetry in cultural heritage documentation.

Student workload
The student's weekly workload per 1.5 credits is 40 hours, of which approximately 15 to 20 hours is contact teaching with the lecturer. The rest of the classes are assigned either to independent work in literature or to independent practical work. 1 credit (cr) corresponds to 27 hours (h).

The student is able to use manual and light exposure adjustments. In order to use his/her photos for documentation, reports, printed and digital publications the student knows the basics of image processing. The student knows the basics of photography and video-shooting for documentation and the use of photogrammetry for the documentation of cultural heritage.
The student is able under guidance to produce different types of oral and written texts needed in conservation specialist work. The student recognizes the different factors of communication process and is able to produce basic written material of his/her own special field. The student takes part in communicational interaction but needs support in data collection and analysis.

The student is able to use photos in an ethical manner and understands the meaning of image manipulation. The student understands the basics of video-shooting and how to use videos for conservation documentation and understands the use of photogrammetry for the documentation of cultural heritage.

Assessment methods and criteria
Learning tasks 60%, continuous evaluation 40%.
The evaluation is based on the student's continuous evaluation and participation in the course, the performance of practical assignments and their evaluation. Each student is assessed according to the study's competence objectives and their own starting points and how they develop and learn during the course. At least 80% of the contact teaching in the course must be present.
