Objective

The student is able to describe the principles of biomechanics and is able to connect biomechanics as a part of functional capacity and lower extremity functions. The student is able to describe the phases of walking and time-distance variables. The student is able to describe the function of lower extremity joints and muscles in walking as well as understands the impact of trunk and upper extremity motion in walking. The student understands ankle and foot functional anatomy and biomechanics in different phases of walking. The student is able to apply the principles of biomechanics while evaluating client’s locomotion. The student is knowledgeable of methods that evaluate movement, locomotion and motion control as well as is able apply the results in clinical decision making.
