Objective

The student is able to write music and lyrics as well as create background tracks according to the given assignments. The student is able to act as a member of a creative co-writing team in various roles and take the initiative to work actively to achieve the group’s goals. The student is able to specify the different roles present in various creative team settings in the music business, is familiar with group processes and is able to contribute to effective interaction between group members.

The student is able to discuss and give constructive feedback on the contributions of others, is able to receive feedback and reflect on and articulate what has been accomplished. The student is capable of setting goals for themselves and their team and ensuring that the goals are met as agreed. The student is able to communicate fluently their own and their team's music orally, in writing and by audio recording. As a team member, the student is able to make high-quality demo recordings of their music.

Content

The roles, work, and group dynamics of a creative music writing team. Writing music and lyrics in teams by commission. Making and producing demo recordings.

The course starts on Friday 7 March 2025 at 14.00, room AS412. The teacher in charge will contact the enrolled students. The students must reserve the WHOLE week of 11/2025 except the Monday (i.e. 11–13/3) for this course, after which the projects are finalized according to a separately agreed schedule.

The student is able to write music and lyrics as well as create background tracks according to the given assignments. The student is able to complete assignments according to schedule. The student is able to give constructive feedback on the contributions of other members of the group and is able to receive feedback and reflect on their own work. The student is able to communicate fluently ideas about their own and their team's music orally, in writing and by audio recording. As a team member, the student is able to make high-quality demo recordings of their music.

Qualifications

The student knows how to write music and lyrics in teams according to given assignments. The student can operate in various genres of popular music in a professional and creative manner. The student knows how to listen to and explore their own music and that of others, analyse it and apply the acquired knowledge to their own music making. The student is able to perceive diverse musical trends and apply the acquired knowledge in their own artistic and professional activities.

The student works in groups actively and with initiative and can discuss and give constructive feedback on the contributions of other group members. The student is capable of setting goals for themselves and their group, and making sure that the goals are met as agreed. The student can fluently communicate their own music making orally, in writing, and by means of recordings. The student knows how to make high-quality demo recordings of their music.
