Objective
The student can create learner-centered and meaningful pedagogical processes and environments. They can utilize a holistic and creative approach to learning with different age groups and individuals, facilitating the first steps in learning music. They are able to work as music educators with different age groups, understanding the varying needs of the participants. The student can facilitate and support learning and self-expression of individuals and ensembles in early childhood music education, communities, various learning and non-professional contexts and on the first steps of vocal and instrumental studies, and they can support learning and self-expression from both the individual and communal learning perspectives.
They are able to recognise elements affecting their own musical learning, reflect on these aspects critically, and utilize them on their journey of becoming professional music educators.
Content
First steps of learning music in different contexts and in different stages of life, reflecting on music education and learner needs from different angles, analysing challenging group situations, constructing and implementing teaching situations, individual and group reflection.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The student is able to foster and facilitate first steps in learning music working with different age groups and individuals with a holistic and creative approach. They are able to teach inviduals and groups to play an instrument or sing, and can support learning and self-expression both in group and one-to-one settings. They can utilize knowledge and theories about learning in their pedagogical practice.

Prerequisites
The student can construct learner-centred pedagogical situations taking the learner’s needs into account. They can use creativity, musical artistic expression, composition and improvisation, as well as pedagogical approaches that utilize different kinds of music. They can take into account group dynamics and group processes in their pedagogical activities. They can facilitate and support the learning of individuals and groups. The student can support learning and self-expression in different situations as part of well-being and a good life.
