Objective

The student is able to construct meaningful learning processes and environments, taking into account the different needs of learners. They can create learning environments for holistic, creative and learner-centred music education, aiming to support lifelong learning and well-being through music. Students are able to search for theoretical information on learning and teaching, and apply this on music education in practice. The student can utilize their artistic and pedagogical skills for multiprofessional interaction in community arts environments that stretch beyond the traditional educational field, thus developing new practices and enabling new experiences. The student can act flexibly in multiprofessional, new and interactive situations, as well as work purposefully and in a participant-oriented way on group projects. The student is able to reflect on their music education practices, and direct their own professional lifelong learning collaboratively and within networks.

Content

Thoughts and concepts underpinning music teaching and learning and community arts, reflection on one’s own pedagogical thinking and the ensuing development of practical applications and new practices, artistic activities related to one’s own professional music educator profile, learner and participant-oriented approach in pedagogical situations, leading and analysing group processes, acting in various situations of challenging working life collaboration, planning and implementing teaching situations, individual and group reflection.

Prerequisites

The student can utilise and develop further their musical and pedagogical knowledge and skills in early childhood music education, in facilitating the first steps of instrumental or vocal studies, and in working with different groups and various contexts of music activities. The student is able to enhance meaningful learning in music and facilitate self-expression with various teaching methods, elements of music education practice and by working with various genres of music.
