Objective

The students knows the possibilities and limitations of simulations in designing of HVAC-systems.
The student is able to exploit IDA ICE simulation programme in computing the thermal indoor environment, indoor air quality and energy use in buildings. The student is able to develop EXCEL spreadsheet computations in simulating components of HVAC-systems or of buildings.

Content

IDA Indoor Climate and Energy (ICE) programme. Modelling practicals and spreadsheet computations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to identify basic concepts of HVAC Modelling and Simulation and solve basic excercises. He or she can compile a simulation model using basic features of spreadsheet calculation HVAC theory.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Further, the student is able to clarify concepts of HVAC Modelling and Simulation and solve advanced excercises. He or she can compile a simulation model using advanced features of spreadsheet calculation HVAC theory.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Further, student’s documents and models are comprehensive and correct.
