Objective

On completion of the course, the student will recognize when feedback control is required and be able to understand the significance and difference between actuators.
The student will be able to dimension actuators based on both static and dynamic loads.
The student will be able to use mathematical methods to tune and select the components of various systems.

Content

1. Regulators and their function
2. Comparison of open and closed control loops
3. Using simulation for control development
4. Frequency analysis
5. Dynamic properties of actuators
6. Commissioning a closed loop system
