Objective

On completion of the course, the student
- can explain the methods and phases of earth construction as well as the materials used
- can describe principles of planning and supervising earth construction
- can produce an earth construction plan
- can describe and plan the blasting stages, the most common explosives and detonators
- can follow relevant safety and environmental regulations in planning and implementation

The student
- can explain foundation work methods and phases as well as materials and machinery used in each phase
- can describe principles of planning and supervising earth construction and produce an earth construction plan
- can explain equipment used in excavation work as well as explosives and detonators
- can explain the contents of a safety plan for a soil or rock construction site.

The student
- can explain foundation work methods and phases as well as materials and machinery used in each phase
- can describe principles of planning and supervising earth construction and produce an earth construction plan
- can plan the different stages in excavation and choose the correct explosives and detonators
- can produce a safety plan for a soil or rock construction site.
