Objective

On completion of the course the student will be familiar with the operation principles, structures, building and maintenance of a water supply and sewage network, as well as the principles of water and sewage treatment. The student will understand the structure and planning principles of the water supply and sewage network, and will be familiar with the way network planning is connected with zone and street planning. The student will be familiar with the procedures and methods in the maintenance and renovation of the water supply network.

2. Materials, devices and equipment in water supply and sewage networks
3. Pumping stations
4. The principles of sizing and building a water supply network
5. Water supply solutions for areas of dispersed development
6. The operation principles of water and sewage plants
7. The principles of operation and maintenance of water supply networks
8. Condition surveys, leak detecting, assessing need for repair, risks, types of damage, wearing
9. The repair methods of distribution networks and devices
10. Building information models for water supply networks.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands the structure and planning principles of the water supply and sewage network, and is familiar with the way network planning is connected with zone and street planning.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the basics of planning water supply networks, sewage networks and water and sewage plants and understands how the other topics of the course relate to these. The student understands how different elements of the network influence each other and the risks related to them.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can apply the course content and understands how changing, repairing or maintaining one component in the network influences the whole.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands the structure and planning principles of the water supply and sewage network, and is familiar with the way network planning is connected with zone and street planning.
