Objective

The student is able to use English in everyday situations through the use of basic terminology, grammar and phrases. The student also learns to study the language independently by the help of literature and online material. The student will gain courage to speak the language.

Basic terminology, phrases and everyday language use. The basics of English grammar.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has reached the goals of the course in a satisfactory manner. The student’s ability to communicate using the language as well as the knowledge of the culture is limited considering course content.

The student has reached the goals of the course well, even though there is still room for improvement in certain areas. The student’s ability to communicate using the language as well as the knowledge of the culture is good considering course content. The student has the ability to apply the communication skills in free time, study and work contexts.

The student has reached the goals of the course very well. The student’s ability to communicate using the language as well as the knowledge of the culture meet the criteria of the course. The student has good skills for applying the communication skills in free time, study and work contexts.

Proficiency in English is a basic/preparatory course for students who a) have never studied English before, b) have studied only the basics of English, c) have studied English a long time ago.
