Learning outcomes

The student is familiar with the dimensions of managerial behaviour and is able to improve him/herself as a supervisor and manager. S/he understands different characteristics of organizational behaviour and how a supervisor’s personal conduct affects the work community, its teams and individuals. The student is able to develop different work communities and to create a supportive work atmosphere. The student is able to utilize supervisor and management communication to build a good company culture.

• Recognizing personal strengths and utilizing them in management work
• Managerial work in different work contexts
• Developing operational culture as part of managerial work
• Supervisor communication as a whole

Prerequisites

Completed Higher Education Degree

Teaching methods

The course will be implemented online in the spring of 2021.
The course is based on online contact teaching, peer work and independent study.

Learning materials and recommended literature

The course litterature (books and articles) will be informed later.

Student workload

The student's time used in the course is divided as follows:
participating in contact teaching and discussions 15 hours
peer work 20 hours
reading the literature 50 hours
writing a learning assignment 50 hours

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient performance: has completed basic requirements to pass the course and has made an attempt to apply and articulate concepts and information both verbally and in writing but has not made enough effort overall. The student has demonstrated little effort, interest and motivation for individual or team activities / assignments and the output is rather weak.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good overall performance: can apply and articulate concepts and information well both verbally and in writing, certain areas of individual or team output require further attention; shows appropriate level of interest and motivation in individual and team activities. Good presentation delivery and analysis.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent performance in all elements of the course: shows interest and motivation in individual and team activities and assignments, fully applies and clearly articulates concepts and information both verbally and in writing. The student is able to support his/her argument with references to the recommended reading and lecture content. Excellent presentation delivery and analysis.
