Tavoitteet

Students work on the 3cr project and a 2cr module component of the course – online.
For the project students select a tailored, personalised, integrated project based on for example an interest in an aspect of organisational communication, their thesis topic, specialist option or current workplace which allows them to explore communication at a level and depth according to their personal and professional needs.
For the 2cr module component, students will develop their recruitment skills by performing as recruiters in a job application and interview simulation with 2nd year students.

For the 3cr project, students select a tailored, personalised, integrated project based on either their thesis topic, innovation project or an option studied. The project may also be related to the student’s current workplace or be commissioned by Metropolia Business School or another company. For example, the project may have immediately applicable managerial communication implications for a company and be related to Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and Communication; Stakeholder Relations; Crisis and Change Communication, Public Relations; Ethical Communication, Management and Employee Communication, Marketing Communications Strategy, Integrated Project Management – communications plan, Social Media etc.
For the 2cr module, students work either in groups or independently to recruit an intern in a simulation with 2nd year students. Students design a job advertisement for a company, process applications received, invite applicants to interview and interview applicants, either F2F or using communication technologies. Students provide the applicants with feedback and will also receive feedback on their own performance.

English Language Proficiency
This is an online course and most of the activity will be conducted in the course in the Moodle environment. Throughout the course students will maintain a project journal and complete certain tasks online in Moodle, defining their goal(s), milestones and time frame at the start of the project. For the module students may work independently or in groups (according to the number of participants) and there may be some F2F interaction. Each student works individually on researching, planning and writing (or digitally presenting) their project. In certain cases the project may be conducted in groups. Students will receive face-to-face or online guidance and support throughout the duration of the course and project.
5 credit course = 130 hours of student workload estimated as follows:
Contact seminar/F2F consultation or digital consultations – 5 h
Use of online course material, completion of online assignments, individual research and background reading – 30 h
Project– planning, researching and compiling the project 45 h
2cr Module – 52 hours which includes planning, setting up and conducting the interview simulation, using the online course material etc.
