Objective

The students deepen their knowledge of field-related concepts and can participate in written and oral communication situations in higher education. The students know how to search for information, and they produce clear and structured speech and texts related to their field. The students are familiar with the student admissions procedure in the higher education studies of the field. They can also describe their own competences. Finnish language proficiency level: B1.2–B2 (CEFR).

Content

The course includes information about critical literacy and argumentation skills. During the course, the students learn to analyze, combine and summarize information from different sources. The studies also expand the knowledge of text types in the field and give the chance to write different texts. Finnish language studies focus on the special vocabulary and more demanding grammatical structures used in the field.

Student has achieved the course objectives fairly. Student is able to identify and use the course subject area’s concepts and understands the conditions of knowledge and skills development.

Student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Student is able to use well the course concepts and to apply his/her knowledge in study and work situations. Student is able to analyze his/her own knowledge and skills.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. Student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and is able to make justified and fluent analysis on course subject area. Students is well prepared to apply his/her knowledge and skills in study and work situations. Student is able to analyze the competencies of the study field and the development of his/her own knowledge and skills.
