Objective

The course provides an overview of entrepreneurship and business basics.
Upon completion of this course, the students know of
• laws and regulations imposed on establishing a company
• business fundamentals for running and operating a small business

Content

• Concept of entrepreneurship and significance of profitable companies to both individuals and society
• Precondition for business success: from business idea to creating value for the customer
• Business idea and business plan
• Understanding the customer
• Establishing a company
• Company formats, generation of income and taxation
• Basics of corporate financing
• Company as an employer – obligations of employer
• Basic concepts of cost accounting
• Basics of bookkeeping and accounting
• Basics of Value Added Taxation
• Safety nets for entrepreneurs (unemployment, legal protection etc.)

Students have achieved the course objectives fairly. Students will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models.

Students have achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Students are able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students have achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. Students master commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. Students are able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures or apply the objectives in practice.
