In the end of the study module the student should be able to
- choose appropriate materials and fasteners for demanding timber structures
- explain the principles and functions of demanding timber structures
- explain the stiffening of building structures
- explain the principles of structural fire design

- design demanding timber structures and their joints
- design the stiffening system of building structures
- make the structural fire design
Content
Stout timber structures; glulam structures, Kerto-laminated veneer lumber, thin-webbed beams and timber trusses
Design of board structures as floor plates and stiffening structures
Mechanical joints; nails, screws, dowels and nail plates
Stiffening and bracings
Structural fire design
Some topics of wooden structures
