Objective

Students are able to carry out organic chemistry syntheses on the basis of the instructions. S/he knows how to work in the organic laboratory, using a variety of equipment and methods.
S/he is able to apply his/her skills in physical chemistry when designing synthesis stages and investigating the properties of the final product.
The student masters how to use the IR- and MS-equipment and different sample techniques. The student is able to take advantage of spectroscopic data to identify synthesis products and unknown compounds and to determine the purity of the assay.

Content

1. FTIR and GCMS-spectrometric measurements, operating principles of equipment, and various sample preparation techniques
2. IR- MS spectra interpretation
3. Designing of organic synthesis and implementation of the work instructions
4. Measurements of reaction kinetics, equilibrium, and thermodynamics
