Objective

On completion of the course the student can
- identify the degree of statical indeterminacy and the degree of transferability
- identify the general force method
- use slope-deflection equations
- use the Cross method
- use the symmetry of structure
- identify forced displacements
- identify stresses caused by temperature changes
- explain plasticity theory
- find a solution using the method of plastic hinges
- check results of hand calculations with an applicable computer program.

3. Slope-deflection equations in basic cases
4. The Cross method in basic cases
5. The use of symmetry when solving structures
