Objective
The students will be familiar with the theoretical foundations and the basic concepts of social pedagogy as well as different trends in the field. They will be familiar with the typical characteristics of socio-pedagogical work approach. The students are familiar with the value system, ethical concepts and the principles of professional ethics. The students will understand the importance of critical thinking.
Content
Social pedagogy as a field of science and practice. The roots and the development of social pedagogy. Key concepts and operating principles of social pedagogy. Introduction to ethical thinking and professional ethics in the field of social services.

Course Assignments and Readings (30%)
- Student will read all assigned articles for class discussion and reflect on them
- No late papers accepted
• Learning Task (6-8 pgs) (50%)
This is a combination work with the Communication and IT Skills course in an effort to reduce the student’s workload so the final written assignment is for both courses.
• Attendance and Participation (20%)
- Students are expected to attend lectures and participate in discussion groups. Failure to do so will affect your final grade.
