Objective

Students will deepen their know-how on health technology, guidance, ethical value base and expertise.

Students can evaluate their development according to evidence-based practices.

• The ethical value base of nursing
• The expertise of a nurse
• The support of empowerment in patient guidance

Location and time

Studying takes place during 3rd period of study year. The module is integrated with two following courses; Emergency and ICU nursing and perioperative nursing studies.

Teaching methods

Course consists of expert contact lectures related to current professional issues, independent study, simulations and Moodle online exams.

Exam schedules

Nursing core competences ( 180 cr) national exam will be organized as per schedule. Drug calculations and re-exams are being organized during the theory studies in Emergency and ICU nursing and perioperative nursing.

No optional methods for completion. The course cannot be completed in any other way, no recognition of prior learning.

Course is worth 5 credits= 135 hrs of student work. Guidance for independent learning is given at orientation.

Further information

This is an advanced nursing course in Degree Program Nursing. It is run during the last academic year. Completion of the course requires that student has completed all basic theory related to clinical nursing skills studies. Development of Nurse Expertise - Clinical Practice can not be started until all basic practises have been successfully completed.
Minimum of 80% attendance is required for theory lessons. Absence for a valid reason and reimbursement practices will be negotiated with the teachers on course.

All assignments and materials are under Copyright Act (404/61) and a teacher has the copyright. Assignments and materials are not allowed to be distributed or used in any other way. Distributing materials are only allowed if the teacher grants the permit.
