Learning outcomes

Students
- can plan, implement and evaluate the client-oriented nursing of patients requiring surgical care
- can plan, implement and evaluate patient’s anaesthetic and surgical nursing in a client-oriented way
- can evaluate acutely ill patient’s needs for care and meet them with assistive methods of nursing both independently and as members of multiprofessional groups
- understand the duties and responsibilities related to acute and urgent situations and the competence requirements for nurses
- can support patients requiring urgent care and their significant others.

Further information for students

Acute nursing includes surgical and perioperative nursing theory and clinical laboratory, drug calculation, surgery and anesthesiology dosage calculation. Theory lessons include active participation in face to face learning. Clinical laboratory lessons are obligatory and the possible learning tasks concerning the lesson subject must be returned in time before lessons. During clinical laboratory lessons the students must work aseptically and actively considering patient safety.


The assignments and MATERIALS prepared by the teacher are works in accordance with the Copyright Act (404/61) to which the teacher has copyright. Assignments AND MATERIALS may not be used except in their own studies. Their public distribution is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

Continuous assessment Exam 0-5. Surgery and anesthesiology by learning task and applied questions in exam. Blood transfusion in network exam by Punainen Risti. Clinical calculation test. Clinical laboratory teaching 100%
