Objective
Work placement promoting students’ expertise is implemented in authentic learning environments
and in close cooperation between the students, the degree programme and the workplace
representatives. Students’ work placement is always a goal-oriented, supervised and evaluated
activity. The purpose of the work placement is to develop students’ professional competence and
deepen it systematically as the studies proceed. By demonstrating development of competence,
students’ improve their possibilities for more individual selection and planning of their studies.
Content
Work placements may be implemented in the service of others or working as entrepreneurs in
various areas of the social and health care sector. For example, at hospitals and health care centres;
research and care facilities; rehabilitation centres and spas; occupational health care; public health,
physical education or disability organisations; old people’s homes and day care centres; or at
schools and physical exercise institutions.

Students master professional concepts, and they justify their choices using the comprehensive knowledge base, based on the client’s needs. Students assess systematically the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students work according to professional ethics as well as commit themselves to the group, enhancing its functioning.

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base. They also assess and develop their own functioning systematically.
Students act independently and professionally aiming at goals set to them in their operating environment. They also apply working methods flexibly and safely.
Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.
