Learning outcomes

The student is able to utilize his/her mentoring- and consultation competence as a clinical expert in multi-professional healthcare teams and at customer interfaces.
The student improves guidance and consultation activities by utilizing evidence-based practice in the selected area of clinical laboratory work.

Content

Developing mentoring- and consultation competence in the selected area of clinical expertise and demonstrating one’s own clinical expertise in teams and at customer interfaces.
Promoting mentoring- and consultation culture in the selected expertise area of clinical laboratory services.
Current research and evidence-based practice in mentoring and consultation competence in the selected area of clinical expertise.

Prerequisites

Bachelor of Health Care (Biomedical Laboratory Science) or other applicable Finnish higher education degree (Bachelor's or Master's degree at a university or UAS) combined with a previously acquired vocational college diploma of a laboratorian. Alternatively, an overseas higher education degree that corresponds to the previously listed Finnish degrees, combined with valid professional practice rights in Finland, or a directive certificate.

The course language is English. All material are in English, but assessment tasks can be also written in Finnish. Most of the course is self-directed and allows flexibility in when and where it is done. The orientation, two lectures and the presentation of development task will be in real time. It is essential for everyone to adhere to the deadlines.

Orientoiva tehtävä:
Mitä tarkoittavat käsitteet asiantuntijuus, ohjaus ja konsultointi. Kirjaa käsitteet auki ja palauta tehtävä ennen ensimmäistä tuntia. Kirjaa myös käyttämäsi lähteet ylös.

Viikko 12: Opintojakson aloitus, tehtävien esittely ja orientoivan tehtävän purku (=hissipuhe) omasta aiheesta + keskustelua aiheesta
Alustus/luento ”Kohderyhmäanalyysin ja pedagogiikan merkitys terveydenhuollossa ohjauksen ja konsultoinnin näkökulmasta”

Opintojakson tehtävä: Suunnittele valitsemallesi kohderyhmälle/työyhteisölle/valmiista case-tapauksista ohjaus ja konsultaatiotilanne, jossa käytät ennakkotehtävän käsitteitä (asiantuntijuus, ohjaus ja konsultointi). Kuljeta tekstissä rinnakkain tilannekuvausta, kirjallisuudesta löytämääsi teoriaa, jolla perustelet tapahtumaa sekä omaa pohdintaasi. Ota huomioon tehtävässäsi preanalytiikka, joka on bioanalyytikon yksi tärkein asiantuntijuusalue. Millaista näyttöön perustuvaa ohjaus- ja pedagogista osaamista bioanalyytikon ohjaus ja konsultaatiotilanteissa tarvitaan? Kerrothan tehtävässä suunnittelusta, itse tilanteesta sekä mahdollisista jatkotoimenpiteistä. Liitä tekstiin omaa kriittistä, perusteltua ja kehittävää vuoropuhelua, pohdintaa ja kysymyksiä. Laadi työstäsi selkeä ja tehtävänannon kannalta olennaiset seikat huomioiva kokonaisuus väliotsikointia käyttäen.
Lisää tehtävän loppuun kolme tärkeintä oivallusta / havaintoa, jotka tehtävän aikana koit. Rakenna näiden oivallusten pohjalta viikolle 20 esitys omasta tehtävästäsi.

The student is able to develop versatile mentoring and consulting activities by utilizing evidence-based knowledge and to promote mentoring- and consultation culture development by one’s expertise.
Good 3-4
The student is able to apply knowledge and to work as mentor and consulting expert in multi-professional healthcare teams and at customer interfaces.
The student is able to use evidence-based information in extensive ways and understands the importance of it in mentoring and consulting development.
Satisfactory 1-2
The student is able to apply mentor- and consultation competence skills in areas of expertise in multi-professional healthcare teams and customer interfaces.

The student is able to utilize his/her mentoring- and consultation competence as a clinical expert in multi-professional healthcare teams and at customer interfaces.
The student improves guidance and consultation activities by utilizing evidence-based practice in the selected area of clinical laboratory work.

The student is able to utilize his/her mentoring- and consultation competence as a clinical expert excellent in multi-professional healthcare teams and at customer interfaces.
